Exploration #5e4: Kid-Safe Web Portals

The sites in this exploration were designed to provide a safe starting point for students exploring the world wide web. Most of these sites have been developed by educators or librarians and the sites linked off these web portals have been checked for appropriate content. I've used these sites for years in my computer lab without incident.

Note:
For the most part, the sites above are non-profit or educator sites which do not have all the banner ads, those annoying pop-up ads and the other distractions (games, jokes, etc.) that can get in the way of students using the web in a productive manner. Many of the sites below are .com sites and offer those distractions along with appropriate content.

Record your general observations on these Web Portal sites in your logbook. Make note of the sites you will be most likely to use in future.

If you are aware of other similar Web Portal Sites that were not included in the list, you are invited to add them to the Web Portals section in the Module 5: Enrichment Resources section on the course web discussion board.
