Locating A Text Editor on Your Computer

There may be times when you will find it useful to have a simple text editor such as NotePad or TextEdit open on the screen along with your web browser. Easy access to the text editor application will allow you to cut and paste URL's (internet addresses) as well as text from the browser window into the text editor. You can make onscreen notes to document your online exploration. Here's how to locate the text editor on your computer if you don't already know where it is:

(Mac Users: See below)

Windows Users:

Notepad is located in the Accessories list in Windows.

Click on Start

Click on Programs

Click on Accessories

Click on Notepad.

MAC OS X Users:

TextEdit (a simple text editor) is located in your Applications folder.

Click on the Finder.

Click on Applications.

Double-click on the TextEdit icon.

Drag the TextEdit icon to your Dock.
