World Wide Web Module: Summary and Reflections

The activities in the World Wide Web module of this course have been designed to give you a glimpse of the some wonderful educational resources available on the Web.

As you have no doubt already guessed, we have just skimmed the surface. New educational resources are appearing every day so you will want to revisit these sites from time to time and to continue using the search tools to find new web resources.

Note: The final assignment for this module has two parts.

Part 1

Take a few minutes to share a minimum of three of the web resources you discovered when using the online search tools.

Click on the link to the Web Discussion Board above and navigate to the Activity 20: Check These Out... section on the discussion board. Add your three recommended sites using the Add a Message section down at the bottom of the screen. As you scroll down that long page, be sure to check out the sites that have been recommended by your colleagues in this course.

If you include the entire web address beginning with http:// the web board software will create a live link to the websites you are sharing. Include a short description of the website. You can include all three resources in one "Add a Message" screen or you can use a separate "Add a Message" screen for each link.

Record the completion date for part one of this assignment in the logbook.

Part 2

Return to the Internet Skills Checklist that you used for the preliminary self-assessment at the beginning of this module. Check off new proficiencies that you have developed as you worked on this module of the course. Save this checklist with your course materials. You will mail it back with your logbook and grade forms upon completion of the course.

To conclude the module, send me a Summary and Reflections email message. Include the following in your message.

• How have your internet skills and proficiencies changed as a result of this module of the course? Where do you now rate your proficiencies (Beginning, Intermediate, Proficient).
  
  
• Reflect on how the educational resources that you have found will enhance your ability to support your state curriculum content standards.
  
  
• Reflect on how you plan to integrate some of these online resources into your classroom.
  

Note: Ignore any instructions regarding the listserve found in earlier versions of the course logbook and address your message to my email address. Include the words Summary and Reflections in the subject of the message like this:

The last module on the course will introduce you to webpage design. You will discover how easy it is to create your own webpages and publish them on the web.
