Internet Explorer - Windows

Suggestion #1: Disable unnecessary browser toolbar options
Procedure: From the View menu, select Toolbar and uncheck the items you want to remove.
Use the Customize option to remove items from the Toolbar

Suggestion #2: Disable unnecessary icons from the toolbar
Procedure: From the View menu, select Toolbar and then Customize. Use the Add and Remove buttons to customize the toolbar.

Suggestion #3: Reset the Home and Search Pages to Filtered Content Portals and Filtered Search Sites
Procedure: Select Internet Options from the Tools Menu, click on General tab and enter the new Home page.
Customize the default search options by selecting the Customize feature on the Search window. Remove unfiltered web search tools.

Suggestion #4: Edit the default Favorites List, removing Favorites that may lead to objectionable content and adding Filtered Content Portals and Filtered Search Sites
Procedure: Select Organize Favorites from the Favorites menu

Suggestion #5: Adjust the History feature to suit your needs (day, week, etc.)
Procedure: Change the number of days webpages will be kept in the History file by selecting General from the Internet Options under the Tools menu.

Internet Explorer - Mac

Suggestion #1: Turn off unnecessary browser toolbar options (Address Bar, Favorites Bar, Explorer Bar, etc.)

Procedure: From the View menu, uncheck the items you want to temporarily disable.

Suggestion #2
: Reset the Home and Search Pages to Filtered Content Portals and Filtered Search Sites

Procedure: Select Home/Search from the Preferences menu. Enter the preferred address in both sections.

Suggestion #3: Edit the default Favorites List, removing Favorites that may lead to objectionable content and adding Filtered Content Portals and Filtered Search Sites

Procedure: Select Organize Favorites from the Favorites menu.

Suggestion #4: Adjust the number of websites kept in the History settings to suit your needs. This will allow you to quickly monitor where the students have been during classroom online sessions.

Procedure: Select Advanced under the Web Browser settings in the Preferences menu.
