Exporting Your Internet Explorer Favorites (PC) Updated: 4.25.11 First, you will need to find the Import and Export Wizard built into Internet Explorer. This tool has been moved around a bit in recent versions. Versions 6, 7 & 8: Click on the File menu and then click on Import and Export. Version 9: The menu bar is no longer displayed automatically. Click on the Alt key and it will temporarily appear. Click the File menu and select Import and Export. You can also click on the Star (Favorites) button on the upper right corner, click the little down arrow next to Add to Favorites and select Import and Export. The exact wording for the steps that follow has changed a bit from one version to the other. You may also find that the order is slightly different. You will want to select the following options: Export Favorites or Export to a File Select the Folder you wish to export. Note: Selecting the top Favorites folder will export all of your Favorites. Click the Browse option and select the Desktop as the location to which the exported Favorites will be saved. Change the
default Bookmarks file name to your first initial followed by your
last name (example: bjost.htm) Click on Save or Export. A dialog box will appear informing you that the export process was successful. Next, you will verify that your Favorites have been successfully exported. Close Internet Explorer and locate the exported Favorites file on your Desktop. Double-clicking on the file should open Internet Explorer and display your exported favorites on the screen. Clicking on the links should take you to the associated webpages.
Next: Send the Exported Bookmarks as an E-mail Attachment
