Exporting Your Internet Explorer Favorites: Mac Versions 4-5

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Open the Organize Favorites window.
  3. Navigate to the File menu.
  4. Select Export or Export Favorites.
  5. When the dialog box appears, select the desktop as the destination for the file.
  6. Now, change the default favorites.html or bookmark.htm file name to to your first initial followed by your last name (examples: jhlloyd.htm or bjost.htm)

Important Note: Do not use any spaces and be sure to include the .htm suffix.
  7. Save the renamed favorites file.
  8. Navigate to the desktop and open your exported favorites. You should see your entire Bookmarks file displayed as a webpage on your screen. Clicking on the links should take you to the associated webpage.
  9. You will notice that this process exported your entire Favorites list. If you have access to an HTML editor like Netscape Composer or if your word processor is capable of editing webpages, you can edit the webpage, removing the folders and bookmarks that you do not wish to include.
