Exploration #2e1

State Content Standards | Common Core Standards

Below is a clearinghouse site which provide access to the content standards for all 50 states. In most cases, the links on these sites will redirect you to your State Department of Education site and to the online version of the original content standards document. Each of the sites is slightly different. Take a quick look at the sites and then decide which one you find easiest to navigate.

As you explore these state content standards, look for one or two specific content standards that you can use as the focal point for the two course projects that you will develop later in the course.

Education World's State Standards directory provides direct links to all of the 50 state departments of education sites where you will find the content standards for your state.

Note to Pennsylvania Educators: Use the link below which will take you to the Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards Aligned System website.

If your state and/or district has already (or is planning to...) adopt the Common Core Standards, you may use those for this assignment. You will find specific information on the Common Core website at:

Common Core State Standards Initiative

If you are already familiar with a content standards website developed by your school, state or district, you may use that if it is more convenient and/or appropriate.

I'd suggest that you add each of the content standards documents for your major curriculum areas to your bookmarks/favorites for future reference. If the content standards documents are available as Adobe Acrobat .pdf files, you may also want to consider downloading them to your computer for quick reference in the future.
